Veteran friendly education and training delivered by leading Canadian Academic Institutions.
The Veteran Friendly Transition Program, also called the VFTP, was designed by a team of experts from the field of career and employment development, and a number of Veterans from all rank levels. The Program has one goal in mind, to create a flexible and supportive Veteran friendly career and learning environment that will enable Veterans to find meaningful and gainful employment and to successfully transition from military to civilian life following their service to Canada. The work of the team of experts showed that Veterans need a unique learning environment and supportive personal services to enable their success while at school. It also demonstrated that supportive services and additional training were needed to help the Veteran to successfully transition to civilian life. These three components were brought together into one program to form the VFTP.
The VFTP is not only about finding jobs, but to prepare the Veteran after she, or he leaves service to be able to handle any issues that might come up, and if needed, to reach out to supportive Veteran, Government of Canada, applicable Province and municipal services. To be join the VFTP team and to be branded as a VFTP institution, a Canadian College or University will need to first apply to the VFTP.
If accepted, the College, or University will meet with the VFTP leadership team over a number of sessions to clearly identify what will be needed by the College, or University to be branded a VFTP College, or University.
